Rotary Martial Arts Festival
On Sunday 16th May we took a team of our senior grades to the University of Bath Sports Village to take part in the Rotary Martial Arts Festival - a fundraising event showcasing some twelve types of martial art: Kung-Fu, Karate, TaeKwon-Do, Ju-Jitsu, Capoeira, Combat Ju-Jutsu & MMA, Krav Maga, Systema, Aikido, Kenbudo (sword), Stav (Viking) & F.A.S.T. defence
Many thanks to all our senior grades for turning up and putting on such a cracking show, and to all of you who came along to spectate and support us. We had a really good showing; we had more people there than anyone else by far (23 black belts were an awesome sight and many comments were made about the sheer volume of black belts we had there!). As predicted it wasn't the 2,000 audience we were told it was could have been which was disappointing for everyone, especially the organisers. Our demo went as planned and we were awesome of course; demonstrating the street fighting side of TaeKwon-Do that most people never see (see the photo gallery for more pictures!).
It was good to watch the other martial arts demonstrations too. As I told you lot, we are at least as good as anybody, except that I don't feel that we are in the same class as the Stav!!
Thank you everybody. The day raised approximately £1,200 for the two causes - Dorothy House Hospice Care (registered charity number 275745) and Mentoring Plus (registered charity number 111253).
